Outside Lands Festival San francisco 2

Following the precedent post about attending that amazing music festival in San Francisco with VIP passes and enjoying the lovely people listening Muse, Arcade Fire, Beirut...
Let's continue comparing the London Fashion Week to Outside Land festival.
First thing: different continents but so many common points.
As in all fashion weeks, there are always designers we are not so fond of, or designs we can already guess about the new collections ...
... then if you are in California you can expected californian girls.

Every season at the fashion week you can find designers inspired by different styles: punk, rock and roll, bohemians, metal, hippies ... Some designers said that they create their collections according to the kind of music they are listening at that particular moment of their lives.

In all fashion weeks there is some animal print, stripes and some flowers. Make up and hairdresser are essentials for the models.

Sometimes when we see a fashion show we think "what the hell were the designers thinking when they created the collection?!" ..... Yes, the same happens in a music festival.
1- This bikini over the legging was a creative try but we already know someone who did it before: Superman !!
2- Then the suspenders with tight jeans...thanks god is wasn't enough hot to get sunburn.
3- And this girl with the striped socks wearing flip flops ... sometimes fashion and comfort do not get along well.

This is one of my favorite looks. Maybe not the greatest, but it was more the attitude of the girl, her style and natural pose. Less is more, Bravo !

Outside Lands Festival at San Francisco

Summer is almost over. I already wear my boots and coats...and that is not funny at all.
London Fashion Week is happening now, I have just seen Burberry Prorsum  Spring-Summer 2012 catwalk and I love it but I have "une envie" (a craving) of a little crazy festival creation.
I think catwalks are amazing and most of the time inspire us but when you go to a festival and you see thousands of people sharing different cultures and styles...that become a huge exchange of creativity.

Welcome to Outside Lands Festival

The first day, on my way to the festival a stand was giving away a strange beverage, an orange can (if you read my previous post you should know what is the mean of orange colour) with a marihuana leaf ... marketing is everywhere. I drank it but no weird side effects, it didn't make me drunk, no extra excitement .... zero marihuana ... good marketing and bad product.

In a festival you find real people wearing real sizes, not over makeuped and without any photoshop. It is the best catwalk for a cool style.
Of course when you go to California to a festival in a forest style park you will find obviously lots of hippies.

Colours, feathers, hats, animal prints, tattoos, dreadlocks .... no rules to be cool.

A music festival is the best occasion to wear whatever you want without the feeling to be ridiculous. I found a rabbit, an indian, Jack Sparrow and Tarzan.

A music festival is one of the best "fashion" event to me.

Orange is not just a color it is a smile

ORANGE can be a fruit, a telecom company or most of the time a COLOR.

The fruit gives us vitamin C and was discover by Albert Szent-Gyorgyi who won the nobel Price in 1937. Google decided to commemorate his 118th born anniversary with a funny logo.

The telecom company gives us headache most of the time.

The COLOR was unfashionable for so long that we almost forgot it. Queens of catwalks were wearing black, grey, dark greens and purples. At the same time a huge worldwide credit crunch and recession arrived, many people lost their jobs, energy and became more and more apathetic.

What to do in that situation??? Let's create things with a key color: ORANGE

2011 is the end of an era of darkness and sad colors. It is time to change and get bright and warm influences. This color stimulates enthusiasm and creativity. Orange means vitality with endurance.

It is an open mind color which stimulates curiosity and with it comes the exploration of new things.

Specialists say that wearing orange during times of stress or shock can help to balance our emotions. Orange helps depressed and spiritless people, it is our new psychologist and light on life.

It is a "social" color which represents happiness, sincerity and shows love to others.

Maybe all these reasons are the answer to my question; why are all designers and high street brands using that color?
From Clarks, Rayban, Louboutin, Ugg, Tory Burch, Nike, Burberry Prorsum, Hermes, Balenciaga, Versace, D&G...

Showbiz note: Beyonce decided to wear a beautiful orange Lanvin dress for the announcement of her first pregnancy. Is that a coincidence or a personal stylist decision?

However bright colors don't shine forever...what is going to be the new orange next season?
